An autobiographical sketch:
When I grew up I joined haShomer haTza'ir which was very active in the "fund for Israel". The movement organized the students of the higher classes in high school and succeeded in implanting spirit of Zionism and zeal for activities such as collecting money from the fund. They distributed to the houses "saving boxes" for the Fund, visited weddings and other celebrations in town to collect money to buy lands in Israel.

Our activities, all in Hebrew, included singing Holiday songs in Hebrew, camps in the forests, etc. We did not get an emissary from Eretz Israel because they knew that my father spoke Hebrew and that we were active. In 1932 I joined a summer camp in Chervtzitza in the Polesia district close to Pinsk. My sisters were already in Eretz Israel and the rest of us made Aliya in 1934.
